Kristie Stuart is the leading voice and enthusiastic heart of our Ministry for Children. When you come to worship, she will be the person to call the children down for the Message for Children and Youth. Tied into the themes and Scriptures to be shared in the general message of the worship service, our kids are made part of the whole message of God shared on each given Sunday. The Sunday School class is dismissed from Worship after the Message for Children and Youth and is for children of all elementary and middle school ages. Following worship, the Sunday School returns to the Hearth Room to join the congregation for a time of Fellowship, with cookies and snacks, where the young people can rejoin their families.
If you are visiting us for the first time, come join us in the sanctuary. Members of our Kids Ministry team come early and, if they do not introduce themselves, any member of our congregation can point them out to you. Our Team members will meet you and your family, explain our process, first time in church, then the message for Youth and Children, then dismissal to Sunday School, and where families will meet up once again. They will be able to answer any questions that you might have. We cannot wait to welcome you!
In a world where chaos seems to reign, we seek to be a place of safety and wonder in the name of our Lord Jesus. So, our policy is to always have our teaching staff “two deep” for any Sunday School class or kid’s ministry event. While we have our usual teaching staff, we also have a ‘deep bench’ of folks on our Christian Education team, trained in our Child Protection and related policies, ready to step in if ever needed.
The Sunday school curriculum at FPC Merchantville is for children K-6th grade. The unique combination of traditional classroom education combined with fun crafts, videos, and physical activity allows for children of every learning style to learn and succeed. Each lesson plan includes Bible readings, and is designed to mirror the lesson being delivered to the congregation - which can lead to deep and meaningful discussion with family at home. The end result is children and families who can feel the love and joy of the Lord in their hearts
